Veerse Meer Nature Paradise
At Veerse Meer, in the heart of the southern Dutch province of Zeeland, you can breathe in the refreshing North Sea air. The comfortably equipped RCN de Schotsmann holiday park is situated right on the Veerse Meer. Thanks to its ideal, natural setting and versatile facilities with a wide range of activities and amenities, the holiday park is a particularly popular holiday destination for families with children. Sailing, surfing, kayaking and much more – there is a huge range of options for water enthusiasts. For plenty of splashing and sandplay fun for the little ones, the shallow beach of Lake Veere is the main attraction.

Children and teenagers spending their holidays with their families at RCN de Schotsman will find plenty of space and a wide range of opportunities to play, exercise, let off steam and make friends. In recent years, the holiday park has invested heavily in high-quality play areas. Numerous playgrounds with play equipment for all age groups are spread across the entire site of the holiday park.
Playground design for a special location
When planning all the playgrounds on the site, it was important to the operators to incorporate the holiday park’s natural atmosphere and the unique character of the Veerse Meer landscape and its surroundings into the concept and design. eibe Benelux impressed the park management with bespoke play area concepts and plans. The result is play facilities that provide children with long-lasting fun and, thanks to their superior quality and robustness, represent a durable and worthwhile investment for the operator. The play facilities on the holiday site were largely constructed from natural robinia wood. This extremely robust timber, the hallmark of eibe paradiso, exudes a very special natural charm with its rustic appearance and the irregular, naturally grown posts and beams, and is ideally suited to designing play equipment that is particularly imaginative and therefore appealing to children.
A rainy day?
Even on a rainy day, no child needs to miss out on a bit of climbing or sliding fun. With its nautical theme, striped slides and typical play and decorative elements, the indoor playground brings that beach feeling indoors. With all sorts of features for climbing, crawling, gymnastics and sensory experiences, the little ones can enjoy their playtime on the spacious play structure with dry heads and feet.
Ahoy, sailors! Playground harbour complex for little adventurers
This special playground highlight awaits the kids between the beach and the catering complex. The large climbing structure, complete with its own small dune, offers everything active, adventurous holidaymakers love: ladders, ramps, climbing walls, rope and net climbs, bridges, slides – here, everyone will find the perfect feature to climb the lighthouse and conquer the little playground harbour. Right next to it, a fishing boat lies at anchor. The play ship can be climbed all around and has a shaded interior. Perfect for adventure-hungry little sailors and daring seafarers to really live out their fantasy stories.
Swinging, soaring, balancing
A large multi-seater swing invites children to take to the skies. The large snake swing made of thick rope can be swung by several children together. For the little ones, a little away from the hustle and bustle, there is a pretty playhouse with a bench, a peephole, a climbing ladder and a slide board for their first attempts at climbing and sliding.
Children of all ages can’t get enough of a ride on the large double cable car. Older children and adults are drawn to a balance course where they can test and practise their balance. Various levels of difficulty involving beams, ropes, chains and net structures ensure long-lasting fun and are ideal for little competitions.
Wonderful splashing fun
The best thing about a holiday at RCN de Schotsman, especially for younger children, is playing in the sand and water right by the shallow lake shore. There, a stainless-steel water play area with a pump and a water channel provides wet and wild fun. Shovelling, digging, pouring, sifting – at the sandpit, the little ones can let their creativity run wild to their heart’s content.
The children playing in the beach playground are protected from the catering building by a loose, see-through fence. Within the play areas, rows of posts and wicker fences naturally divide the various play zones, creating the impression of a complete beach and harbour landscape. Beyond the play equipment, this leaves plenty of space for play and movement for all visitors to the beach playground. This is also open for use by day-trippers on the cycle path running alongside.
